Just Checking - Nathan K

Hello! This is your friend in the orange hoodie, Nathan K.

Every day at 5am my cat wakes me up with a sweet, gentle, and quiet meow. I don’t even put my glasses on. I stumble out of bed and walk over to the kitchen to check on his bowl. I’m just checking.

I shake the bowl. He always has food. But he likes the routine of me checking.. So do I, most days. You never know. He like’s knowing that it gets checked, and I can’t blame him. He’s just checking.

Songwriting is a lot like that. Every day at 5 or 5:30pm I sit down in the same chair. I write a song. I’m just checking what’s inside there. You never know. There’s always something. I’m just checking.

Here’s what quickly came out of me tonight when I sat down. It’s called “What’s Up Doc”. I hope you’re doing well in these uncertain times. You’re doing ok, right? I’m just checking.
