Black Beauty

Hello! This is your friend in the orange hoodie, Nathan K.

Years ago I watched a 12 minute long YouTube video that makes a compelling case arguing that the movie Back To The Future starring Michael J Fox (RIP) predicted the terrorist attacks on 9/11. (by the way I totally got you, Michael J Fox is still alive! Happy belated April fools! i’m so sorry)

Even though the video was satire, I wanted so badly to believe it. (If you want, reply to this email and I can send the video to you. It’s great.)

It got me thinking how badly I wanted a conspiracy of my own to believe, and so I spent a long time going down rabbit holes on wikipedia until I concocted the following conspiracy theory: Kobe Bryant’s death was predicted by an obscure movie in the 1970s. Don’t ask me how I figured it out. But it’s true.

Basically, Kobe Bryant was insanely good at basketball. We all know this. He was vicious. Was he as good as MJ? Debatable. I’ve heard a lot of theories on this that argue while he was better than MJ, he wouldn’t have existed without MJ. He was a student of #23 and mimicked his moves with better precision than #23 himself. (some say). it’s kind of like saying a Beatles Tribute band is better than the Beatlesbecause they can play the parts better. No one would say that, right? Anyways I still think there’s a potential case for Kobe as the goat (but as a Pistons fan… wait never mind…)

Anyways, he was SO GOOD at basketball that his nickname was the Black Mamba. I’ll be honest, I never really heard this (or if I did, I never thought twice about it) until after he died, or after they made a purple and yellow energy drink named that (whichever came first.) Turns out Black Mamba is an extremely deadly snake. You know, like him on the court. Unstoppable. The black mamba has almost no natural predators except for birds of prey.

Hmm. Interesting right? Turns out…. there is a movie called Birds of Prey from the 70s. and it’s about a helicopter pilot. The craziest part is that this movie came out 5 years before Kobe was even born. Mind blown, right? Right? … Right???

I also have a theory about Gibson Les Paul guitars, and why the Black Beauty Les Pauls are called Black Beauty, hence the title but we don’t need to get into that right now.
Today I released a song with my favorite bass part ever. It’s called Black Beauty. It’s about all of this stuff I just talked about. I hope you enjoy it. CLICK HERE to stream it on all platforms. and if you want a bandcamp download code, just reply here and i’ll send you one.

If you enjoy and want to send to a friend, or share it on social media that’s so kind of you, thanks!

THANKS FOR LISTENING. and more importantly, thanks for being here.

with love,
nk
