Angelean – Band Version (First Listen!)

Imagine for a second that we are back in 2018. It’s a cold and rainy January day. The boys (Julian Ciany, Evan Tetrault) and I had just come off of a DIY tour through Michigan and had a great time. If you were there, hell yeah! We wanted to capture the sound of our set, and so we got together in Evan’s room off of Dickerson road in Nashville TN. I brought all of my mics and cables and my interface. Evan had his interface and handful of mics and cables. Julian was handsome as ever. Between the 3 of us we had enough equipment (barely) to record, and we recorded all day for 2 days. We drank a lot of coffee. Julian made some wonderful lunch. I miss that dude.

Then those recordings sat on a hard drive for a while before my friend Darin mixed and mastered them. I’ve slowly been releasing them over the past few years for what will eventually be the (Band Versions) album. (Remember, this was pre Taylor Swift doing Taylor’s Version, ha.)

Tomorrow (or technically, at midnight tonight for you nite owls) I am releasing Angelean (Band Version), but I want you to HEAR IT FIRST. A whole day early! This song was written by my friend Mike. It’s about a long lost friendship that you’re not sure if you can ever get back. As things shifted around and life has changed since 2018, it feels more relevant than ever.
